Hi guys! I have an organizing motivation post for you today!
A while back I completely changed my calendar around. I wanted more time that I could dedicate to tackling projects around the house that just nag at me. (Do you have projects like this too?!)
So I’ve dedicated every other Friday to taking on one of these projects and hopefully am able to complete the project from start to finish while the little one is napping.
One of the major projects I needed to tackle was the cabinet underneath my bathroom sink! This was a space I accessed every day but I started adding to the space without getting rid of anything or putting it back properly! Yikes!
I had 45 minutes to tackle this project and I even finished with time to spare. We dread the act of the task and drag that on and that takes more of our time than the actual doing of the task. I hope this shows that if you tackle small spaces at a time, you can easily complete one project after another until you have made it around your entire house!

Step 1 | Grab your sorting bags & set the timer
The first thing I did before I took anything out was grab 3 bags that I could sort in to. I didn’t have any boxes laying around and grocery bags were the next best thing. Plus I get to re-use them which makes me feel better inside!
I had three categories: Toss, Donate, and Keep
That way as I am pulling everything out, I can easily throw items in their appropriate categories as I go.
Setting a timer will definitely help keep you on task and focused. Knowing I only had 45 minutes kept me moving at a pretty fast pace. Not only did I have the timer as a deadline, but I also had to pick my daughter up from school, so it was a double whammy! It had to get done, no if’s. and’s, or but’s.
Step 2| Start pulling items out
I started emptying the plastic bins and pulling out the contents because I needed to see what I had in the back and I also wanted to wipe it down while I was working on the space. As I was pulling stuff out I also took this time to re-arrange where I wanted things to be. I also took some of the labels off because I knew that I was re-arranging and would have to re-label the containers.
Step 3| Wipe out the containers
I used a cloth dampened with a mixture of water and vinegar (my favorite go-to cleaner) to wipe inside the containers. That way there was a little disinfecting going on too.
Step 4| Label
Labeling is always a fun part of organization. But the most important function of labeling is to know exactly where things belong. When someone else needs to come into the space, they can also easily find things and put them away without worrying about messing it up too!
Step 5| Step back and enjoy your organized space!
The best part of organizing is to see the beautiful space after you’re done! It’s always so pretty! Job well done!
