I have a mini cleaning challenge for you!
How are you doing at home friend?
Here in Washington state, our stay at home order has been extended to May 4. We are also transitioning to full time online learning starting next week for our school.
Although this is such an uncertain time, I’m trying to stay positive and do things around the house and keep myself productive!
So, I created a mini 5-day cleaning challenge to do while we’re at home! I wanted to think of things that we may not clean on a super regular basis.
For my regular cleaning schedule, you can check out this post here!
Cleaning Challenge Day 1: Sanitize all the touchpoints in your home!
There are so many things around the house that our families touch on a daily basis. I think this took me less than 5 minutes to get done. Move from room to room and look high and low!
Take a few minutes and grab a disinfecting wipe and wipe down all the touchpoints you can think of! Here are some ideas for you to get started:
- light switches
- door handles
- cabinet knobs and pulls
- toilet flusher
- tv remote controls
- appliance handles
Day 2: Wash pillow covers and throw blankets
Day 2 of the mini challenge is to wash your throw pillow covers and blankets.
I took all mine off and I also added the slipcover from our side chair and threw them all in the washing machine together.
These guys are constantly thrown all over the living room and on the floor, attract food spills, and who knows what else!
After a few hours, I was able to put them back, and the living room was like new!
Day 3: Sanitize your phones, ipads, controllers
How many times do you put your phone down on the table, on the counter, (drop it on the floor?) and then answer a call and put the phone to your face?!
Today for the cleaning challenge, we’re sanitizing our phones, and ipads, and any game console controllers (if you didn’t do that the other day).
All I did was take a disinfecting wipe and wiped the back, the pop socket, and the front part of the case. Voila! Clean phone!
Day 4: Wash lunch boxes and reusable grocery bags
Today for the cleaning challenge, we are washing our reusable grocery bags and lunchboxes! I actually saw this on a facebook post and I was inspired!
I’ve never washed any of these bags besides using a Clorox wipe! I threw everything in the washing machine on warm/cold water. After they were washed, I dried the cotton bags on low. Then I hung dry the insulated bags and lunch boxes.
This was my first time and I’m so happy how they all came out. So fresh and so clean!
Day 5: Sanitize the garbage cans inside your home
The final day of the cleaning challenge is to wipe down your garbage cans! When was the last time you did that? Be honest!
I can’t remember when I did. We line our garbage cans with plastic grocery store bags so they weren’t disgusting. But it’s always nice to deep clean whenever possible!
I hope you enjoyed this cleaning challenge! Let me know if you did it and how you liked it! I would love to know!
