1| Cut the sponge in half!
This tip alone will double your money and the length of time you can use ONE SPONGE! The first thing I do whenever I pull out a new sponge is cut it in half. I don’t have the biggest hands so it’s easier for me to work with a smaller sponge. I’m so used to cleaning with a smaller sponge that if I’m at anyone’s house that has a regular sized sponge I’m so awkward with it! It feels too big!
Cutting your sponge in half will also help you save on how much dish soap you have to use. Smaller sponge, smaller surface area!
2| Completely rinse the sponge & squeeze out all the water
When you are done with the sponge, make sure it is completely rinsed through and leave it in a place where it can completely air dry. I hate it when a sponge starts to stink! It just doesn’t feel like it’s clean, right off the bat. Stinky does not equal clean. So don’t leave it at the bottom of the sink or sitting in a soaking pot.
Squeeze out as much water as you can and put it in a spot where as much of the surface can dry as much as possible.
3| Microwave the sponge
Step 1: Take the sponge and put it in a microwave safe bowl and fill it with some water.
Step 2: Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Don’t touch it for like 5 minutes! ITS SUPER HOT! This is a super easy way to disinfect the sponge.
Step 3: Bonus Step! This is also a great time to wipe the interior of the microwave. All the gunk is loosened up and easy to wipe away!
