There are so many things to go in to home management, right?

But you know what?

I would rather do my own cleaning. Okay okay, if I was some gazillionaire, maybe I would hire out.
But at this stage of my life, I would rather clean my own house.

So before you faint in shock, let me go over a few reasons why:

3 Reasons why I would rather clean my home than hire out

1| You and me, we are invested in our homes.

Whether you are renting or own your own home, this is place that you and your family live. Unless you are trying out for an episode on Hoarders, we all want to live, eat, and just be, in a clean home, right?

Yes, I’m sure that cleaning companies out there do a wonderful job. Just the weight of cleaning lifted off moms’ shoulder’s everywhere is enough. But when I’m cleaning around the house, I notice all the little things that need to be fixed, that need to be deep cleaned, things that just need more attention and I’m the one who’s house is on the line.

Nobody is going to pay attention to your house like you are. They aren’t going to care for your house like you do. Not only are you financially invested, but you are also emotionally, and physically invested in your home.

2| Think of it as “zen cleaning”

Have you ever seen The Next Karate Kid? The one with Hilary Swank? Good movie!

Mr. Miyagi talks throughout the movie about different zen “actions”. There’s even a scene where they took their monk friends out to go bowling and each monk bowled a strike with their eyes closed! He calls it “zen bowling”.

Now, I’m not saying to clean with your eyes closed 😂, but we can start thinking of this time to clear your mind. Turn on some great music and dance while you clean. Think of this time as personal development time for you, turn on your favorite podcast while you’re cleaning, turn this into your time.

I think the more we change our mindset to not hate cleaning, but to think of it as we are bettering ourselves within while we’re cleaning the out, can we create a win-win scenario.

What’s the saying, “you’re outer world is a reflection your inner world”?

If you’re always feeling scattered and overwhelmed within, it will show up in the way you handle your household. Wouldn’t the best scenario be cleaning up both your inner and outer world at the same time?!

3| I can clean my home whenever

The beauty of knowing how to properly clean your home and doing it yourself is that you can do it whenever!

I mean this in 2 ways:

  1. I can set my cleaning schedule around my life and I am in control of when I’m going to clean the house….or not.
  2. If I need to do a clean before someone comes over or it just got completely dirty on a random day, I know I can clean the mess and do it quickly!

You don’t have to sit there and stare at the mess and impatiently wait for the scheduled day the maid is coming or call and hope they can reschedule and come early, like now. You can get it done, save yourself the couple hundred bucks, and still end up with a beautiful clean space! A space that you’re so proud of, because  you worked your butt off to get it sparkling!

I hope this gave you a little insight on why I would rather do my own cleaning. Check out this post if you need to get a little organizing and cleaning motivation to get you started!
