Dining room organization is a little bit on the easier side for me. We don’t really have anything in our dining area besides the dining table and chairs! 😂
Another room that has been minimized!
Decluttering the Dining Room
Remember from the living room organization, the first thing is to purge! Making that final decision of what to keep and what to toss is really hard. Go through all your things and keep what you love, keep what is useful to you, toss your things that are weighing you down. There may be things in the room that you just have to put away in a different room! Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Toys
- electronics
- books/magazines
- extra furniture / broken furniture
- broken plates/utensils
- Old decor

Cleaning the Dining Room
This type of cleaning list is a deeper clean than a normal bi-weekly clean. You are getting behind and under the furniture. Also shampooing carpets and furniture if you are able to. You can also think of this as a spring clean. Instead of doing all the cleaning once a year, we’re breaking it up into months. Focusing on one room per month. This time it’s the dining room!
Here are some ideas to clean your dining room:
- dust furniture / wet wiped
- clean windows / blinds
- clean baseboards
- vacuum / wash curtains
- sanitize light switches
- vacuum chairs
- clean interior of china cabinet
- vacuum / mop floors
- clean/polish silver
- wipe legs of table and chairs
- clean chandelier
- dust any pictures/frames
- Cleaning any table decor
Maintaining the Dining Room
Keeping up the dining room boils down to 2 main things:
- Clearing the table every night (no piles of mail!)
- Wiping down the table every night, get the stickiness off from the kids!
What do you think? Is this pretty doable?
