Last week I shared with you the different areas I like to have clean and prepped for guests that are coming over to hang out at our house for a few hours.
This week we’re talking about guests that are staying overnight!
If you missed that post you can check it out here!
I decided to split the 2 types of guests into 2 posts for guests that are going to stay because it’s a little more involved.
For guests that are going to stay with us, I love to have our guestroom set up as a mini hotel experience. It may be my love of hotels but I love to pass that experience on to our guests!
1| Guest room prep
The first thing I do is I make sure that the guest room bed is made because guests are staying the night with us. I also
The next thing I set up is a little welcome basket of towels, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion that they can use.
Also included in the welcome basket are 1 to 2 bottles of water.
In the guest space, I also have a framed printout of our WIFI password so our guests can logon easily.
2| Guest bath prep
First, I will go into the guest bathroom that we have upstairs and make sure it’s tidied up in there. Since this is our girls’ bathroom too, I will make sure that their stuff is out of the way as much as possible.
This means that the counter is clear and all the toys in the tub are picked up and in the basket. Their towels are on their own hooks. And that there is enough space for the guest to hang up their towel and use the space with ease.
All the toiletries that our guests would need are in the welcome basket in the guest room so I don’t worry about that in the bathroom.
Finally, I make sure that there are spare rolls of toilet paper handy. The last thing you want to do is search around when you don’t have any more toilet paper right?
3| Cleaning Tasks
After everything is picked up and tidied up, what’s left to do? Make sure it’s clean of course! You wouldn’t want to check in to a dirty hotel room right? We’re aiming for a 5 star experience here!
The best part of when guests stay, is that it’s usually for a weekend. If you’re following my cleaning schedule, that means on Fridays the upstairs (bedrooms) are either fully cleaned or touch up cleaned.
So that means there isn’t any additional cleaning that you have to do because it’s already being scheduled and done for the day.
If your guests are arriving on a random day, let’s go through the quick touch up cleaning tasks that you can do to ensure a 5 star clean.
Quick touch up cleaning checklist
