Leave Your Christmas Stress Behind
Today I am sharing my top 3 tips on how to keep your stress minimized this Christmas and holiday season. Of course everybody has already posted pictures of their Christmas trees and houses are all decorated online already.
I’ve noticed myself comparing what I’ve done and not done to what seems like everyone else’s perfectly decorated houses. For some reason, that completely stresses me out. I start asking myself why isn’t our house decorated like that? I find myself with the urge to shop because I need to buy more decorations. I need to do more so our house can look like a picture from a magazine.
Then I slap myself in the face.
Haha, no not really.
But that was my inspiration for my top 3 tips to keep your stress at bay this Christmas season for you today.
Christmas Tip #1: Stay on track with your budget and don’t go overboard on gifts for everyone especially for your kids.
As you may know, I have two little girls and I’ve already caught myself thinking they need this toy and adding all these extra items onto their gift list.
But in reality they probably don’t need all those extra “things”. They have a playroom full of toys already and they just need a few toys, books, and clothes here and there. I don’t need to get them toys that are all the rave online.
Like Hatchimals.
Do you guys have an apparent shortage on these too?
Do they really need all those expensive toys and gadgets? I don’t think so. Maybe they’ll be excited for a week and find something new that’s shiny. And in the end who’s the one that has to pick up all the toys right?! ME!
We’re probably donate all these toys or sell them by the end of the year anyway!
So don’t go overboard on Christmas presents. You probably already know what your child really truly wants and needs and they’ll love the presents that they get.
Along the same lines is to keep track of your Christmas spending and stay on budget. I don’t know about you, but I’ve found myself saying It’s Christmas! It’s just comes one time a year. But you and I both know we don’t need to be spending all that money. It’s a wonderful time of the year and my favorite but it’s not a reason to completely blow your budget.
You don’t want to start the new year having to pay for everything that you bought this month. For both gifts and decisions.
Christmas Stress Tip #2: Don’t wait until the last minute to buy presents, wrap presents, meal plan, etc.
I’m still seeing a lot of great deals on toys, electronics, and clothes. It’s still shopping season so stores are still going to have sales, coupons, and special deals.
You also don’t want to wait till the last minute to meal plan for Christmas and New Years. Start making a plan now about what you’re eating, where is the family meeting up, who is bringing what. This also gives everyone a chance to prepare and minimize the stress on their Christmas as well.
Christmas Stress Tip # 3: Is to enjoy your family.
Christmas time is all about being with your loved ones. While presents and shopping are fun, it’s not really about that. It’s about enjoying time with your family and treasuring this time. I don’t know about you but for me these Christmas’s are going by so much faster every year. This year, 2016, has completely flown by for me. I look back and wonder where all that time went. What did we do? Right?
Being with our family in the during the holidays is really what Christmas is all about. There’s so many movies you know where people want to go home for the holidays, people can’t get home for the holidays but then they do get to make it home and it’s all they ever wanted.
Treasure this time. Don’t stress. And know that you are enough, you have enough, and stop comparing yourself to others’ because they are probably doing the same thing with you.
