Ok, here are the simple steps to create your own cash envelope / clip system for your wallet!

Step 1 | What you’ll need to make your simple cash envelope system:

3×3 Post its
3×5 index cards
Paper clips
Sharpie marker
scissors

Right now I only need 2 sections in my wallet for cash. I use my debit card for most of our purchases and keep track of it in our budgeting app. But I like having cash for groceries and my personal spending money.

I used to use the savvy cents cash wallet but I found there wasn’t even space for cards. I needed to carry way more than there was space for. I switched back to my original Coach wallet. I really like being able to zip the wallet closed. Just to ensure that nothing will fall out. Every time I would stick cash in there, I would lose track of which was mine, and what was for another category. So, I just recently saw that rachel cruze had a clip system that used clips to separate each category. But for me and my wallet, it was still too bulky. I didn’t want to have to go out and buy something else.

So I came up with my little system and it’s been working great so far!

Step 2 | Post it + 3×5 card

Take a colored post it note and fold it in half over a 3×5 card with the sticky side on the back. Then write what category it is on the front side. Then you are going to cut about ½ inch down next to the post and cut it across to make a tab essentially.

Step 3 | Cash + Paper Clip

Finally take your cash and tuck it under the post it note and paper clip it together.

You can also take this one step further by tracking the purchases on the back. That way you know exactly where your money is going!

Oh my gosh it looks so pretty! I’m so excited how it turned out!
