In this post I’m sharing with you my April cleaning calendar! Last month we tackled the kitchen so we are going to finish off that area with the pantry this month.
April’s cleaning task is the pantry. We are decluttering, organizing, and deep cleaning the pantry this month!
If you aren’t familiar with my cleaning system, you can check out this post here.
But to give you a quick recap, I separate the month and tasks into bi-weekly cleaning. That way dust doesn’t have enough time to settle into the nooks and crannies.
Dividing the tasks into Week A and Week B
Week A is my cleaning week. This is where the majority of my time (naptime for my daughter) is spent thoroughly cleaning different areas of the house.
Week B is what I call touch up cleaning. These are spot treating areas that need a quick clean but I don’t need to go into extreme detailed cleaning.
Examples of this are bathrooms, floors, and vacuuming
HOW I SEPARATE MY CLEANING TASKS
There are quite a few cleaning schedules online these days that have cleaning days separated and categorized by tasks. Monday would be dusting, Tuesday floors, Wednesday bathrooms, etc.
That is not how I set up my cleaning routine.
I clean by essentially by rooms and zones.
Why would I clean this way?
Short answer: I like to see a finished space.
When you clean by tasks never get you a complete clean at one time. You only get bits and pieces and for me personally, that bugs me! When I walk out of a space I want to be able to see a difference!
Cleaning by room gets you from a dirty room to a clean one. And you can see the difference and the change, and that’s where my motivation comes from.
I just thought of an excellent example of how I could explain this.
Have you ever gone on vacation and stayed in a hotel room? Of course you have!
Whenever housekeeping comes through and cleans your room. You expect everything to be clean right?
What if they came in and only dusted?
Then the next day they came in and vacuumed?
Would you be happy with those results? NO!
You expect them to come in and tidy up the entire room and the bathroom. Now they are more conservative with the towels and the sheets, but before hotels went so ECO-friendly, you expected clean towels and sheets too, right?!
You walk out of a dirty/messy room and come back to a clean one.
That’s the beauty of my cleaning method.
The problem is, there isn’t enough time to deep clean all these spaces. That takes so much more time and energy. So when are you ever able to tackle these spaces?
APRIL CLEANING CALENDAR!
That’s one of the reasons why I created She Has MOMentum. So the areas that are harder to reach, the places that we haven’t organized or purged in a while, get some attention!
I would love for you to check it out here.
